Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Nancy Goan Dokken, age 85, passed away after a wonderful and fulfilling life. Nancy was born in Billings on June 17, 1927. She attended McKinley Grade School, Lincoln Junior High School, and graduated from Billings Senior High School. She looked forward to seeing her high school friends at the many reunions that they had throughout the years.
The Guest Book is expired.
Nancy attended Pomona College for one year before returning to Montana. She attended the University of Montana where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She always enjoyed keeping in touch with the Thetas.
While attending a wedding she met the love her life, Tom Dokken, and they were married within three months. After getting married they moved to San Francisco to begin their life together. Their time in California was short lived though because Montana called them back to start their family.
Nancy was the proud mother of five children: Susan Hamersley, Karen Miklin (Mark, deceased), Peder Dokken (Tonya), Jason Dokken, and Dana Dokken (Laura). She was also the loving Grandmother of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family was very important to Nancy.
Nancy was active in the Billings community. She participated in the Community Concert Association, Billings Symphony, and the First Church of Christ Scientist. Her biggest passion was the development of the Black Butte Ranch along the East Rosebud River.
Nancy lived a wonderful, very fulfilled life and we, her family, celebrate that!
A memorial will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Black Butte Ranch near Roscoe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
or the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.
