Norman L. Thompson passed away at Mountain View Care Center on Nov. 22, 2012.

Norman was born Jan. 9, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo. to John W. and Virgie (Comer) Thompson and grew up in the Kansas City area. He enlisted in the Navy in 1946, where he spent 22 years on active duty and in the Navy Reserves.

On May 4, 1946 he married Gladys Bullock. They had three children – Tom, Karol, and John. They later divorced.

Norman and Lorena Burris were married July 1964 and she died in 1986.

On April 1, 1989, Norman married Betty Williams Cloninger. He retired in 1998 as the groundskeeper at Fairview Cemetery in Three Forks. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and hunting.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorena; three sisters; and a great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; twin brothers, Clyde and Claude Thompson; sons, Tom (Kathy) and John (Lynn); daughter, Karol Pennington; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren, John Cloninger, Patty (Dan) Whitlock, and Betty (Ray) Camp; two step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Three Forks.
