Pete Narancich, 96, passed away of natural causes Sept. 8, 2009, at his home in Sheridan. Pete was born April 28, 1913, in Butte to Louis and Anne Narancich.

He worked for a short time for his uncle, Marcus Nalley, at Nalley Foods in Tacoma, Wash. It was at this time that he met and married Edna, his wife of 73 years. She preceded him in death in 2006.
After their marriage they returned to Montana to ranch with his father and brother on the Big Hole river south of Twin Bridges. When he retired they moved to Sheridan where he has spent the last 32 years.
Pete was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing pool. He took great pride in his home and spent many hours working in his three-acre yard.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his brother, Nick Narancich; a sister, Doris "Babe" Maddox; and a grandson, Todd Narancich.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Halse Hellinga (Clarence); sons, Dean (Dee) Narancich of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jerry (Bonnie) Narancich of Billings; grandchildren, Shawn (Shelley) Narancich of Portland, Ore., Pam Halse, Cynthia Stutsman, Kristie (Don) Kirby, Dean (Ann) Halse, all of Bozeman, and Suzan (Pete) Stommel of Ketchum, Idaho; 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Helen Talcott of Rapid City, S.D., and Zorine Frazier of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Twin Bridges Cemetery.
