Ralph Stephen "Steve" Hawkinson, a.k.a. "Hawk," age 70, of Bozeman passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011.
The Guest Book is expired.
Steve was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Litchfield, Minn., to Ralph and Marie Hawkinson. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1958 and attended St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn., where he earned his bachelor's degree. Both in high school and college, his passion was wrestling, where his competitive nature excelled.
Steve later met Patricia Porter, his Montana sweetheart, in Minneapolis, and the two were married Aug. 26, 1963. The couple moved to Montana, along with daughter, Lynn, where they lived for 40 years. It was in Bozeman that their son, Stephen was born.
Steve began a career in mobile home sales working for JR Tschache. After many years of selling for various dealers, he opened his own mobile home brokerage and dealership, called American Homes. After selling the business and semi-retiring, he enjoyed spending some winter months selling RVs in California, Arizona and Florida.
He liked hunting, birds and especially big game. He thoroughly enjoyed trolling for trout, and ice fishing on Canyon Ferry. Steve spent many days relaxing with friends while perfecting his golf game. He was a proud member of Resurrection Parish. The past eight years molded him into a whole new man with his new favorite love, his granddaughter, Caitlyn, who was there up to the end with her Papa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Pat of Bozeman; daughter, Lynn (Jenifer Horan) Hawkinson of Seattle, Wash.; son, Stevie (Theresa Scheie) Hawkinson of Bozeman; granddaughter, Caitlyn Shea Hawkinson; siblings, John (Kathy) Hawkinson of Boise, Idaho, Ann (Gene) Nonweiler of Litchfield, Minn., and Mary (Joe) Roos of Cold Spring, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Ralph) Horner, Phyllis (Bob Focht) Porter; eight nephews, three nieces, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
