A graveside memorial ceremony with military rites for Raymond S. Whitmore will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman.

Raymond, 81, died Aug. 5, 2006, in the VA Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Butte to Raymond W. and Mae C. Whitmore of Bozeman. He went to grade school in Gallatin Gateway, then attended Bozeman High School until he entered the Navy at the age of 17.

The family lived at Cherry Creek for a good number of years before moving to Bozeman. Ray and his family lived in Moses Lake, Wash., for 10 years, then moved to Spokane. He worked for Rowand Machinery Co. for 28 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy J. Whitmore; two daughters, Sandra L. Eden of Spokane, Wash., and Rae Lynne Banks of Puyallup, Wash.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Margaret Morgan of Bozeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, George P. Carter, of Phillipsburg.
