Rick L. Kober of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Bozeman, passed away July 5, 2009, from heart problems. He was born Nov. 14, 1956, to Betty (Whitney) Kober and Norman Kober.

Rick lived in Bozeman until he graduated from Bozeman Senior High School in 1975.
At age 18, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served six years. He then switched to the Navy, where he retired 20 years later. He was currently employed by the naval shipyards.
He married Sue Kober, and she preceded him in death in 2004.
Rick enjoyed bowling at The Bowl, where he worked through high school. He once bowled three 300-games in League in one season. He also loved to fish and camp. His favorite hobby was his large gardens in San Diego.
Rich is survived by two sisters, Sherry and husband, Buck Crawford of Bozeman, and Karen Buck and children, Steve, Michelle and Jenny of Spokane, Wash. He is also survived by his companion, Nita, of San Diego; two stepbrothers, Johnny and Donald Woodland; two stepsisters, Karen Tertelgte and Gayle DeDyker.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; father, Norman; special friend and mentor, Larry Hoell; one baby brother; and his wife, Sue.
Rick will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral services are pending at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Military services will be announced at a later date.
