Bob was born to Robert B. and Helen Strong Tootell on Sept. 30, 1929 in Bozeman. During his childhood he also lived in Stanford, Calif., Spokane, Wash., and Washington, D.C. The family finally made their way back to Bozeman where Bob graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1947. After high school he worked for the REA, did a stint in the Army, and, finally, went to college at Montana State University where he graduated in accounting in 1956. He married Mae Brooks in 1954 and they had two children – Bobbi and Don.
Bob was an accountant in Bozeman for many years. He finally retired in 2006 and moved to Lewistown, Mont. where he lived for eight years. He moved to Glasgow in May 2014. He was an avid Bobcat fan and was thrilled to visit with anyone else who loved the Cats.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Bobbi (Russell) Menge of Saco, Mont.; his son, Don (Kristina) Tootell of Bridger, Mont.; his grandchildren, Patrick (Haley) Menge, Christian Menge, and Jeremy Taylor; his step grandchildren, Brittney Benson, Mitch Taylor, Jesse Taylor and his four children, and his niece and nephew, Linda (Thad) Thomas and Chris (Jenny) Tootell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald B. Tootell.
Bob's final wish was that his body be donated for research at his beloved Montana State University. No funeral services are planned. Donations may be made in Bob's honor to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, PO Box 1129, Bozeman, MT 59771.
