Bob Hathaway passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2012 while working on a ranch near Harlowton, Mont.

Bob was a true American cowboy, living the dream every day. Bob was born Sept. 14, 1939 in Bozeman. He owned and operated his own ranch for 30 years while working for neighboring ranches for 40 years. Bob enjoyed ranching, visiting, and cheering for his kids, grandkids, and any other kids he knew in the sport of rodeo. Bob served in the military. He continued to serve by supporting his fellow soldiers with military honors at their funerals. Bob was proud of his children, grandchildren, horses, and especially his dogs.

He is survived by his brothers, Bill Hathaway and Fred Hathaway as well as his sisters, Francis Rapp and Mary Alice Sutherlin. In addition, he is survived by his son, Robert Hathaway and daughter-in-law, Amy Hathaway; his daughter, Katie Bott and son-in-law, Kelly Bott; grandsons, Bryce Bott and Tyler Hathaway; granddaughters, Kooper Bott and Jessie Hathaway, and his loyal dog, Julie.

Bob has been an example of integrity, loyalty, and honor to all who knew him. He will be loved forever by his friends and family.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 20 at the Harlowton Rodeo Grounds, with burial following in Harlowton Cemetery. Anyone wanting to make a final ride with Bob to the cemetery is invited to bring their horse and ride with him to his final resting place. The family will receive friends during a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 19 at Perkins Funeral Home, 211 N. Central, Harlowton, Mont.
