Robert K. Schenkel, cherished father of Denise Sondra Schenkel, went to heaven at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman.
The Guest Book is expired.
His wife, Eileen, preceded him on this new journey, Nov. 5, 2006.
He and Eileen met at a dance in Cheltenham, England, in World War II. Following the war they settled in Detroit, Mich., where Bob had been born and raised.
Bob was a special projects engineer with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. (now AT&T) for 42 years.
He will be greatly missed by his brother, Roy and his wife, Shirley Schenkel of Farmington Hills, Mich.; sister, Marjorie Adams of Jackson, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Diana Atkey-Sargent of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was supposed to go on forever!
Denise moved her parents out to Bozeman in September 2003. Her father is remembered for a dry sense of humor, a quick mind and an engaging smile. A survivor of two strokes, he was a stellar example of character and strength. Despite his disabilities, he was an avid book reader and kept up on current events. His love, support, wisdom, and most of all, friendship, were his most precious gifts to Denise.
A memorial service was held in Michigan.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service; www.dokkennelson.com.
