Ron was born June 28, 1950, in Bozeman, to Jacob M. and Sadie Braaksma. He grew up in Amsterdam and Churchill, and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1968.

Following high school, he moved to Denver. He attended and graduated from Denver Technological Institute. Upon graduation, he was employed at Western Electric in Denver, and followed the transformation of that company to Mountain Bell, U.S. West and Lucent Technologies, until his retirement. He traveled the country and the world for his job.

Ron married Terri Cunningham in Denver, and together they raised Terri's son, Chad. Ron and Terri later divorced.

Ron married Carmen Cordoba in 1991.

Survivors include his wife Carmen, stepson Chad, and Chad's son Jacob, all of Denver; sister, Judy (Rob) Poelman of Manhattan; brothers, Jack (Mary) of Manhattan, Bob of Bozeman, Darrell (Debbie) of Sheboygan, Wis., and Calvin (Kathy) of Bozeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Sadie Braaksma; sister-in-law, Kathy A. Braaksma; and nephew, Kris Braaksma.

A memorial service will be held May 17 at Family in Christ Community Church in Westminster, Colo.
