Rosella Elizabeth (Mackey) Devine, 86, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Highgate Senior Living in Bozeman.

A vigil service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.

Funeral liturgy will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. Internment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rosella Elizabeth, daughter of Patrick and Mary Ellen (Monahan) Mackey and the fifth of seven children, was born June 11, 1924, in Greene County, Iowa. She was raised in Churdan, Iowa, and following graduation from Churdan High School, she attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

On May 20, 1946, Rosella married Joseph Richard Devine. Four children were born to this union: Ann, Catherine, Patrick and Dennis. The family lived in Three Forks, Dillon and Helena before moving to Great Falls, where they raised their children. Following the death of her husband in 1962, Rose continued to live and work in Great Falls.

Rose worked at numerous businesses, including IFG Leasing, Great Falls Central High School, Forzley Sales, Church Harris, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Great Falls in 1976. She was active in Holy Spirit Parish council, altar societies, UGF Guild, Catholic Daughters, Stephen's Ministry, Girl Scouts and various other community organizations. Rose was an excellent bridge partner, participating in and organizing many tournaments.

Rose is survived by daughter, Catherine (Jim) Jupka of Bozeman; sons, Patrick (Jereice) Devine of Bozeman and Dennis (Lisa) Devine of Great Falls; 14 grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Torpy of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, Conor (Sherri) Torpy of Kirkland, Wash., Matthew (Jennifer) Torpy of Kogarah, Australia, Stephanie Torpy of Reno, Nev., Katie Torpy of Anchorage, Alaska, Suzie (Matt) Stone of Las Vegas, Jon (Amber) Jupka, Daniel Jupka, Karen Devine, Kelly Lewis and Thomas Devine, all of Bozeman, Joseph Devine of Phoenix, Justin Lewis of New Orleans, and Paul J. Fleckenstein of Aurora, S.D.; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Gwynieth Mackey of St. James, Minn., and Eileen Devine of Sigourney, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Wally Lueck of Oakland, Calif., and Larry (Trudy) Devine of Algona, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, Rose was preceded in death by daughter Ann and son-in-law Michael Torpy; siblings, Marie (Lambert) Thelen, Clarence Mackey, Florence (Richard) Van House, Lucille (Wally) Lueck and Bernard Mackey; brothers-in-law, Francis Devine and James Devine; and sister-in-law, Eileen Kulin.
