Aug. 9, 1949 – Sept. 18, 2014

Samuel N. Hendry, 65, died Sept. 18, 2014 in his Keizer home. Sam was born Aug. 9, 1949 to James A. Hendry and Emma Hendry Schnebly in Baker, Mont. near the family ranch. After our dad, Jim, passed away in 1954 we moved to Jordan, Mont. where Sam graduated from Garfield Co. High in 1967. He served four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. With the GI bill Sam attended Montana State University in Bozeman. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in geology he worked as a well site consultant in the western states for approximately 30 years. Due to failing health he retired and moved to Oregon in 2010.

Sam was a kind and generous person whose passing has profoundly diminished our lives. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, table tennis, and later gardening.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, three uncles, three aunts, a brother-in-law and a first cousin. He is survived by three siblings: Marilyn Hendry, Jeff Hendry, and Dianne Hendry-Lenz who reside in Bozeman; cousins: Jay Hendry of Montana, Mark (Lyn) Heidi, and Cindy Hendry of North Dakota; the Silbernagel families of North Dakota, also relatives from Canada.

Following a veteran's memorial service, Sam will be interred at Sunset Hill Veterans Memorial Park in Bozeman.
