Sarah Elizabeth Foster

Sarah Elizabeth Foster, 94, passed away Feb. 21, 2013, at the Mountainview Nursing Home in White Sulphur Springs.

She was born in White Sulphur Springs on Dec. 14, 1918, to Patrick and Clara Bears. She married Keith A. Foster on Sept. 13, 1937. She and Keith lived their entire lives in White Sulphur Springs with the exception of times spent working construction around the state.

She served as County Assessor for 25 years. During that time she was also President of the State Assessor Association. As a concerned citizen, she was a member of the Hospital Guild and the Castle Museum Board. She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Nancy) Foster of Belgrade; three grandchildren, Mark (Josephine) Foster of Belgrade, Beth (Jim) Howard of Gillette, Wyo., and Anne (Mark) Olson of Belgrade; and nine great-grandchildren: David, Katherine, Elisa, Erika, and Philip Howard, Trevyn and Jayce Olson, and Danielle and Jonathan Foster. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive her. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, square dancing, needlework and spending time her friends at the senior center.

Funeral services will be held March 4 at 11 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in White Sulphur Springs with burial following at Mayn Cemetery under the direction of Stevenson Wilke (formerly Twichel) Funeral Home.

Contributions may be given to Mountain View Medical Center, the American Lutheran Church or to the Castle Museum.
