Sharon Vander Vos died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, surrounded by loving family and many friends. She fought a brief, courageous battle with stomach cancer. Sharon Toering was born in Harvey, Ill., on Dec. 28, 1960. She married Tim Vander Vos on May 22, 1987. They had two sons, Tyler and Preston.

Sharon worked as a dispatcher for the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office from spring 1985 to spring 1987. She leaves behind many friends from the Gallatin Valley.
She is survived by her mother, Geneva Toering; siblings Nancy Van Baron, Susan Mooi, Rose Hiskes, Lucille Toering, Gail Weidenaar, Henry Toering and Cindy Toering; Tim's siblings, Elaine Du Bois, Roland Vander Vos, Connie Anderson, Howard Vander Vos and Alvin Vander Vos; and Tim's father, Herman Vander Vos. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry, and Tim's mother, Theresa. She will be remembered for her active commitment to her family, her love of books and athletics, and her faith in God.
A memorial service will be held on Nov. 22 at Avery Street Church in South Windsor, Conn. Those wishing to contact the family may write to Tim Vander Vos, 19 Rainbow Trail, South Windsor, CT 06074.
