Shirley Harriett DeBelly, 82, was born Sept. 20, 1934, to J. Earle King and Vena Belle Cutter King in Shenandoah, Iowa. She joined sisters, Hartrice and Jean and brother, Charles.
Shirley met George when she received her RN at Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, when George got his MD from the University of Nebraska. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year.
Shirley's badge said "volunteer" and to the many organizations she did: Girl Scouts, clubs, voters' election, Sunday school, church treasurer aide and bell choir. She was Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls and a Pink Lady at the old hospital. She was also a member of P.E.O.
Shirley enjoyed skiing and playing golf at Riverside Country Club. Shirley played lots of Bridge especially with the "silly old broads" in existence for many years.
Her children were her pride and joy; Carl (Kathy), Lynne (Dwain), Lisa (Hal) and Eric (Carla) gave her nine beautiful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Each grandchild got a trip with Grandpa George and Grandma Shirley when he or she was ten years old and oh, what fun!
The family had a great experience hosting an exchange student, Eeva McFeely, from Finland in 1978.
Memorials may be made in Shirley's name to Bozeman United Methodist Church, 121 S. Willson Ave., Bozeman, MT 59715.
