Shirley Jean Smith, 89, of Bozeman passed away June 7, 2016. She was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Carl and Jessie (Brown) Erickson in Great Falls, Montana. Shirley was raised near Great Falls in Stockett, Montana, where she attended school. After high school graduation, she attended one year of college at the College of Great Falls and another year at Montana State College in Bozeman.

After marrying Ivan Smith, they settle in Stockett. They later moved to Livingston, Montana, in 1953 and finally to Bozeman in the fall of 1954. They had four children, Dale, Joyce, Dennis and Wayne.
Shirley worked as a secretary for Campfire Girls and Bozeman High School. She was very active in her church, loved her family, and enjoyed cooking, canning, baking and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Joyce Smith; sons, Dale (Soon) Smith, Dennis (Elaine) Smith, and Wayne (Janice Robinson) Smith; sister, Betty Marshall; brothers, Robert Erickson and Carl Erickson; as well as ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical-Free Church in Bozeman.
