Our beautiful Theresa Cecelia Trunkle Thornburg passed away June 6, 2016, in Bozeman, Montana. She was born to James and Anne Trunkle on April 2, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan. As a young child, Theresa moved with her family to Great Falls, Montana, in 1969. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul, East Junior High, and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1982. Theresa attended Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman, and graduated with highest honors in Microbiology in 1986. Later, her love for the beauty of family, friends, and nature led her to pursue an additional degree in photography from MSU.
The Guest Book is expired.
After graduating from MSU, Theresa worked for the State Public Health Laboratory in Helena, Montana, from 1986 until 1993. She returned to Great Falls for a short time and worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She worked at Montana State University as a research associate in the Department of Veterinary Molecular Biology until her passing. She married the true love of her life, Sean Thornburg, in 2008. Their love for each other sparked a special chemistry that often ended in comedic antics and bantering with each other. Sean and Theresa exemplified true love for each other, and Theresa was always happy and smiling when she was with Sean and the Thornburg and Trunkle families, especially at family gatherings and celebrations. Her beautiful captivating smile, classic elegant style, and tall slim stature captured everyone's attention. Her kind and insightful heart touched everyone she met, and her kindness will never be forgotten even among the least of us. And most importantly, Theresa valued the significance of being with family. A loyal and passionate Bobcat fan, she never hesitated to root for the blue and gold.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Sean Thornburg; and step-children, Allan, James, and Kevin; and Sean's mother, Ruth Thornburg; and many of Sean's brothers; and one sister; her parents, James and Anne Trunkle; siblings, Katherine (Larry) Meier, Thomas (Kelly Keilman) Trunkle all of Great Falls, Annie (Roger) Smart of Lind, Washington, Phil (Shelly) Trunkle of Billings, and Pete Trunkle of Missoula. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who mourn her passing. Theresa also leaves behind her beloved and loyal cat, Patches.
Both funeral services will be held at Holy Rosary Parish in Bozeman. A Rosary Vigil service will be held Sunday, June 12 at 5 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, June 13 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
