Thomas Basco Sobrepena passed away on Oc. 26, 2010, in Indio, Calif., of natural causes.

Thomas was born to Ceferino Sr. and Margaret Sobrepena on Feb. 17, 1952, in Bozeman.

"Tommy" grew up in Bozeman and attended his whole adolescent life in the Bozeman school system.

Tommy's life was tragic from this point on as he was diagnosed with a mental illness in his late teens that prevented Tom from pursuing his dreams and hopes.
Thomas spent several years cooking as he pursued a professional cooking career, working at the Cartwheel Supper Club and several locations outside of Montana.

Tom was a very gifted musician and loved to play his guitar and occasionally a key board or piano. Tommy could listen to a song on the radio, record or tape and pick up his guitar or sit down at a piano and play the same song with few, if any, mistakes. He played in a couple of bands as he was growing up, performing in the Gallatin Valley area.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Ceferino B. Sr. and Margaret H. (Keyser) Sobrepena. Thomas is survived by a sister, Eva (Pete) Douma; brothers, Ceferino, "Sonny" (Susan) Sobrepena, George Sobrepena and Robert "Bob" (Loma) Sobrepena; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he cherished.

We know not what demons haunt a man in his life, but we do know that the man is a good man and will be missed and often thought of by those who loved him. Rest easy Tommy, we love you and will miss you.

No services are currently planned. The family will hold a memorial at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
