Tom Eugene George, 72, passed away May 4, 2009, in Bozeman. He was born on Sept. 11, 1936, in Terry to Tom and Nina Maude (Michelsen) George.

Tom graduated from Terry High School in Terry. Upon graduation he entered the Marine Corps in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. One of his favorite mottos was "Once a Marine, always a Marine."

He was married to Mary Diane "Dee" Field on Sept. 8, 1956, in Sparks, Nev. He worked most of his life as an insurance adjuster and salesman. He was also actively involved in Jaycees, Lions, and coached American Legion and Little League baseball. Some of his favorite hobbies included fly fishing, hunting, gardening, and he always enjoyed a good conversation.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Diane "Dee" George; seven children, Diane Matthews, Kathy and Jerry Brownstein, Cindy and Pat Peltier, Michelle George, Tom George, Bob and Suzanne George, and David George; two sisters, Katherine Michelsen and Patricia Henry; one brother, Jim George; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Nina Maude George; and a sister and brother-in-law, June and Floyd Gibbons.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
