Tom Harvey, 73, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. Tom was born in Townsend, Mont. on Nov. 2, 1934 to Fred and Helen (Ring) Harvey. He moved to Belgrade as a small child, moved to Kennewick, Wash. through junior high and then back to Belgrade.

Tom was drafted into the Army in December of 1956. He served as a paratrooper with the 82nd and 11th Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1958 and spent several years in the Army Reserve.
Tom married Marcene Sievert in Bozeman on Aug. 12, 1959 and the couple had three children, Tom, Jim and Debbie.
Tom spent his working years as a construction superintendent helping to build many local building including the Life of Montana, First Security Bank on Main Street, and several buildings on the campus of Montana State University.
He was a master carpenter and enjoyed all types of woodworking. He put together a wood saw and splitter from spare parts, as well as his own log peeler from a lathe, router and belt sander. Early on he built a little go-cart for his kids and a scooter from an old lawnmower motor. His woodworking is unmatched by any, from wooden nuts, bolts and screws, to ornate boxes, roll top desks, log furniture, doll cabinets and the new kitchen cabinets that he really wanted to finish for his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Marcene; sons Tom (Lori) Harvey of Belgrade, Mont. and Jim (Julie) Harvey of Fallbrook, Calif.; daughter Debbie (Matt) Harvey of Butte, Mont.; six grandchildren, Brandon and Brittney Harvey, Benjamin and Grace Harvey; and Travis and Tyler Kelly; sisters Francis Lee of Wasila, Alaska, Freda Inlow of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Doris Ward of Miles City, Mont., Ethie Brothwell and Elinor Pinczes of Bozeman, Mont.; brother Richard (Linda) Harvey of Bozeman, Mont.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Helen Harvey, sisters Betty Gates and Wally Pinczes, and his brothers Sonny and Sam Harvey.
A memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Visitation hours are scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Dokken-Nelson.
