Verna A. Polston, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Hillside Manor in Missoula. She was born Jan. 9, 1916, in Union, Mont., to Olaf and Sybil Anderson.

She graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive, and received her associate degree from Eastern Montana Normal School. She taught school for two years in Hamilton and Luther.
She married Woody Polston in May 1940, and they raised their family in Powell and Cody, Wyo. She was involved with her husband in several local businesses.
Divorced in 1971, she left Cody in 1973 and lived near her daughter for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her son, John and his wife, Mary of Denver; daughter, Janet Skalsky and her husband, Tom, grandsons Samuel, Paul and Tim Skalsky, and three great-grandsons Isaac, Ethan and Landon of Missoula; sisters, Ardis Collins of Loveland, Colo., and Shirley Johnson (Mac) of Bozeman; brothers, Allan Anderson (Shirley) of Minneapolis, and Norman Anderson (Esther) of Glendive.
A family service was held Feb. 28.
She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who led many people to Christ.
