Virginia Ann Martin (Reese) passed away Friday morning, Oct. 10, 2008, after a long illness.
The Guest Book is expired.
Virginia was born March 3, 1924, in Butte, to David and Victoria (Tysel) Reese. She was raised and schooled in Butte and the Wise River area. She graduated from high school in Butte.
She married Leal Stewart in 1943, and from that union she had a son, David Stewart. Virginia and Leal were divorced in 1952.
She worked for Silverbow Homes for several years and then moved to Seattle, Wash., where she went to work for Frentrons in Ballard. She met her second husband, the love of her life, Joe Martin, and they were married in 1963 in Seattle. She retired from Frentrons and traveled and went on fishing trips with Joe until he passed away in 1985.
She moved to Belgrade in 1997 to be near her son, David, where she was an avid reader of science fiction, romances and current events. She would frequently visit the library and bookstore and looked forward to talks with her "friends" at the restaurants where she regularly ate. She had a fondness for cats, a gusty spirit, a sensitive heart, and a beautiful soul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leal; and her second husband, Joe.
She is survived by her son, David Stewart (Andi), of Belgrade; grandson, Shawn Stewart (Amy) of Rockhill, S.C.; granddaughter, Tera Cooper (Tim) of Bozeman; and five great-grandchildren, Hannah Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Katie Stewart, Destiny Stewart, and Stephanie Robinson. She is also survived by her aunt, Harriet Schivers of Malad, Idaho.
Per Virginia's wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family will hold a private gathering in the springtime to scatter her ashes at the family home near Wise River.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be sent to the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, 1549 E. Cameron Bridge Road, Bozeman 59718.
