Wanda L. Speck, 74, of Loveland, Colo., passed away June 13, 2009. She was born on Feb. 10, 1935, in Quincy, Ill., to Raymond and Nora Mae (Cantrell) Schmelzle. She graduated from Quincy High School.

Wanda met Keith Speck while he was playing professional baseball, and they were married on March 10, 1956, in Quincy, Ill., before moving to Perry, Iowa. They raised their family in Perry, Iowa, and Bozeman. Keith and Wanda moved to Loveland, Colo., in 1996.
Wanda's family was her career. She worked at Empire Federal Savings from 1972 to 1982 in Bozeman. She loved to knit, knitting baby blankets for every new baby, attended all her grandchildren's sporting events and school functions, loved to travel, spend time with family, made the best pies, always kept everyone well stocked with canned goods, and made the best bologna and cheese sandwiches for her grandchildren. She loved jigsaw puzzles, word finds and playing board games.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Keith Speck of Loveland, Colo.; sons, Bill Speck and wife, Charline of Modesto, Calif., and Mick Speck and wife, Barb of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Vicki Kautz and husband, Bob of Greeley, Colo.; grandchildren, Karli Jo Speck of Modesto, Calif., Molly and Sam Speck of Fort Collins, Colo., Kendall and Kelsi Kautz of Greeley, Colo.; and extended family in Illinois and California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne and Wim; and sister, Jean.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Allnutt Funeral Service in Loveland. Inurnment at Resthaven Memory Gardens. A reception will be held following the inurnment at Allnutt Funeral Service Reception Center in Loveland.
