May 26, 1919 - June 18, 2015
On June 18, 2015, Wanda Lee Taplin passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Bozeman, Montana. Born May 26, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, Wanda was the sixth of seven children.
Wanda and her family moved to California in 1953, where she resided until 1981. She retired from the Daily Pilot in 1981, where she was employed as the paper's controller. Upon her retirement, she moved to Bozeman. On May 10, 1985, she married the love of her life, James "Tap" Taplin.
Always a spirited soul, Wanda held strong convictions and beliefs in nearly all aspects of her life. She was deeply rooted in her faith and read her Bible daily. Wanda was a talented artist and loved to travel. She remained active all throughout her retirement and visited such places as Israel, England, Germany, Switzerland, Egypt, Poland and Mexico. She and her late husband were members of the Good Sam's Club and loved to camp and fish. Even in Wanda's later days, she enjoyed nothing more than taking a drive to visit one of Bozeman's many local destinations.
Wanda joins in heaven her parents; all her sisters and brothers; her husband, Tap; and son, Jim Gier. She is survived by her son, Ray Gier (Penny); her grandchildren, Cathy Hallock (Joe), Jim Gier Jr. (Laura), Jennifer Farve (Jeff), Carolyn Beer (Jeremy), and Melissa Gier; her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Christina, Sarah, Aaron and Matthew Hallock, Joshua and Heather Gier, Megan and Ava Farve, and Makayla Gier; and beloved dog, Chiquita.
Wanda's fighting spirit, confidence and conviction will be missed.
A memorial service will be held July 16 at 10 a.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
