William ""Butch"" Lloyd Johnson passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 after a year and a half battle with Histiocytic disorder.

Butch was born in Bozeman, Montana to William ""Scrub"" R. Johnson and Dorothy Faye (Miller) Johnson on Nov. 4, 1953.

Butch was hard-working, kind, generous and forgiving. He was always the first one to step up to help someone whether they were a friend or a stranger. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of some. He loved to hunt, fish, work and watch NASCAR. Butch also enjoyed participating in military reenactments. Throughout his life he accumulated friends instead of possessions. You couldn't help but admire him for that.

Butch worked as a custodian at MSU for several years, at Stetson Ford in both Bozeman and Big Timber for over ten years, and up until three months ago, he worked at Harrington's Pepsi for the last six years. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion like his father.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy ""Faye"" Maher; his nephew, Jace Johnson; his step-mother, Marjorie Johnson; and his brother, Mike Dale. He is survived by his dad, William ""Scrub"" Johnson; step-dad, Gene Maher, sisters, Linda (Lee) Matthews, Mary (Dan) Noyes, Tammy Rogers, Sherry Madden, Carol (Mark) Simonson, Susan (Richard) Craig; and brother, Bob (Teresa) Johnson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and his nephew-in-law and hunting partner, Brandan Weber. He is also survived by his cat, Peanut, and numerous chickens that meant so much to him.

Butch, you were a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. We will all miss you.

Private family services are planned for this summer. Butch will be laid to rest on the mountain next to his mother and in the mountains that he loved.

Any memorial donations may be made in his name to Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 11390, Bozeman, MT 59719.
