Richard Johnson, 70, of Bozeman passed away Jan. 28, 2014. He was born June 25, 1943, to Fred and Rena (Baardsgaard) Johnson in Minneapolis, Minn., where he grew up and graduated from high school.

After graduation, Rich joined and served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1964. He later met Charlene Bandelow in Minnesota while skiing and they were married in May 1971. A son, Benjamin, was born in St. Paul, Minn., from this union.
The family relocated to Montana while Rich was a devoted employee at Western Airlines and later Delta Airlines, from which he retired after 39 years in 2012. Rich was a very caring person, always putting others first. He served on the Ski Patrol for 10 years while in Minnesota and later in Big Sky, Mont. Rich was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He enjoyed singing in various choirs including the Chord Rustlers in Bozeman. He will be greatly missed.
Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlene; son, Benjamin (Amanda) Johnson of Texas; sister, Lynn (Paul) Kunnick; sister-in-law, Nelva Bandelow; grandchildren, Kolten, Karisma-Joy and Emerald-Grace; niece, Cindy (Chad) Herrman; and nephew, Michael (Sarah) Kunnick; along with many countless family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.
