Susan Chris (Rude) DeLaMater, 65, passed away March 11, 2014, from her courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Fargo, N.D., the first of six children, to H. Curtiss Rude and Arleen E. (Pederson) Rude.

Her formative years were spent in the area of Rindahl, Minn., where her family had a dairy farm. She graduated from Fertile Public School and attended Lutheran Bible School (Golden Valley Lutheran College) in Minneapolis, Minn. Sue toured Europe with her college choir and fell in love with the City of Florence.

She later moved to Chicago where she worked at Abbott Laboratories and met her future husband, Paul Knowles DeLaMater. They were married Aug. 12, 1978. Paul was a father to two sons, which was the beginning of their family, to which they added two daughters. Over the years, there were moves to Monroe, Conn., and Pittsford, N.Y., before moving to Bozeman in 1993.

Sue's love of the Lord and music were evident everywhere she went in life, singing in choirs and on Evangelical Free's Worship Team in Bozeman. She was a strong, loving, generous, funny, graceful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and Christian. One of the many members of the hospital staff that cared for her described her perfectly, ""Sue walks the light."" Sue was greatly and fiercely loved.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Curtiss and Arleen; grandparents, Peder and Ida Pederson and Edward and Cora Rude. Remaining in her stead are her husband of 35 years, Paul; children, Matthew DeLaMater, Douglas (Patricia) DeLaMater, Danielle DeLaMater, Annic DeLaMater (Shane Colvin); grandchildren, Caitlin, Jenna, Mason, Bailey, Christian and Danica; sister, Kathy (David) Abbott; brothers, Jerome (Becky) Rude, Joel (Laurie) Rude, Nathan (Dawn) Rude and Mayo Rudy; nieces, nephews and dear friends.
