Dorothy L. Kober, 97, passed away March 25, 2014, in Bozeman. She was born to William A. and Reba (Shelton) Figgins in Bozeman on March 13, 1917.

She attended Anderson School and Gallatin County High School. Her first marriage to Jim Hanks ended in divorce. She then married Edwin Kober on Oct. 18, 1938, in Bozeman where they made their home. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1988. Ed passed away on Dec. 18, 1989.

Dorothy had many hobbies and especially enjoyed sewing and quilting. She made many quilts for family members and also sold some. Dorothy was an excellent cook and was famous for her rolls and cinnamon rolls. She had her own cookbook published, which included many of her favorite recipes.

She was a member of the Hyalite Women's Club, the Bozeman Senior Center, and a founding member of the BWAG Quilting Group. She was also an accomplished Bridge player. Besides being a homemaker, Dorothy worked 18 years for her very good friend, Vesta Anderson and family.

Survivors include her sons, Jack (Laura) Hanks and Ed (Toni) Kober of Bozeman; grandchildren, Debbie Van Orden of Bozeman; Pam Pierce of Bozeman; great-grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Van Orden, Niki (Casey) Kegel and Cristin Pierce; great-great-grandchildren, William and Sam Van Orden, Kolter Kegel and another great-great-granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by brothers, Bill Figgins of Bozeman and Wilbur Figgins of Bountiful, Utah; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; brothers, Everett, Earl and Carl Figgins; and sister, Reba Ovle.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service with interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Gallatin Rest Home staff and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving care. Thank you also to her special friends, Barb and Bud Hall.
