Steven Meeks, 44, unexpectedly passed away on Dec. 8, 2013, in Houston, Texas, of complications following cancer surgery.

Steve was born in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 29, 1969, to Archie and Lillie (Miller) Meeks, joining older brother, Don and sisters, Joanne, Anita, and Ten. The family moved to Pittsburg, Kan., when he was four. He attended Pittsburg High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball and then played baseball for Kansas University. He received a bachelor's degree in biology at Kansas University and a master's degree in digital media technologies from the University of Houston. He was the founder of Meticul Solutions, Inc., and Byte Payment Company, both of which are headquartered in Houston.
He is survived by his mother and father of Pittsburg; brother, Don (Beth) of Albany, Ga.; sisters, Joanne of Houston; Anita (David) Neil of Roanoke, Va.; and Ten (Kurt) Kleinsorge of Lenexa, Kan.; nephews, Levi Meeks of Houston, Lester Meeks of Linden, Wash., Kale and Weston Kleinsorge of Lenexa, Kan., and Jacob and Kasey Neil of Roanoke, Va. Also surviving are maternal aunts and uncles, Virginia Miller, Bob Miller (Alice), Dean Miller (Shirley), Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, and Charlotte Mills (Stan) of the Bozeman area and Darlene Speece (John) of Reading, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, his maternal grandparents, Harold and Sarah Miller of Bozeman, and his paternal grandparents, Howard and Elizabeth Meeks of Fort Benton.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery on Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, www.dokkennelson.com.
