Esther Lee Engstrom, 85, passed away at the Bozeman Lodge on June 11, 2014.
The Guest Book is expired.
Lee was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on Aug. 15, 1928, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from high school, Lee enrolled at Montana State College, where her family had deep roots. She majored in home economics, which carried her forth into many new adventures.
Lee and her husband, George, fell in love upon meeting in the student union building their freshman year. They had a wonderful love that carried them through 63 years of marriage and many adventures. Most blessed were their three children, Debra Irene Stephens of Muskego, Wisconsin, Jean Marie Steelman of Marietta, Georgia, and Dr. David Wells Engstrom of San Diego, California.
Lee and George's life together replenished each other -- George achieving his professional life and Lee excelling in her love of stitchery. Her gentleness, intelligence and artistry graced her membership in the Embroidery Guild, PEO and Pi Phi sorority, as well as in her professional career at the Washington National Cathedral where her talents were cherished in many ways.
Lee and George had many journeys together, all of which remain memorable and cherished. The family will miss her terribly, but the love that she gave will sustain them as she reaches the next challenge.
Her sister, Jane Klockman, of Bozeman, has been with Lee many years and will also deeply miss her, as well as Lee's many friends.
