Lieutenant USCG, formerly of Tideview died at Westminster Towers on Friday August 1st after a short illness. Born the son of Anton and Margaret Maier in Queens, NY on November 6, 1916, he was 97. He served on anti-submarine duty in the North Atlantic during WWII. Fred loved to travel and square dance. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jodi of 55 years. He is survived by his sister Mildred Zabawa; son David and his wife Connie; grandchildren Mark, Marita, Renae and Sherri; great-grandchildren Joshua, Lauren, Kayla, Victor, Natalie and Conner; great-great grandchild Bentley and nieces Lynn and Beverly. He is also survived by Carlee Mallary, a long-time companion. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 8th at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1010 24th St West, Palmetto at 10 am.
