Richard (Dick) Allan McDaniel of Bradenton, FL, passed away on January 31, 2014, at the age of 85. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, and graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. He received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Iowa and completed 30 hours of post-graduate studies. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He worked in radio and television in Iowa City, Asheville, NC, Hays, KS, St. Joseph, MO, and as the Program Director for the NBC affiliate in Rockford, IL. He retired to live in Florida in 1990. Dick was known for his sense of humor and for being a fun person. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, reading, and traveling. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers, the University of Iowa, and the Indianapolis 500. He loved the water and was always happy when he was on a boat. He is survived by his wife, Patricia McDaniel, his three children, Rob (Cathy) McDaniel of Loveland, CO; Lisa McDaniel of Minneapolis, MN; and Dirk (Tracy) McDaniel of Phoenix, AZ; and his ten grandchildren: Richard, Shannon (Mike Nemer), Lindy, Kara, Alec, Drew, Rachel, Allison, Sarah, and Samantha.
