Alice Carol (Rowland) Lucas 78, born Jan. 18, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, passed away October 17, 2013 in Tidewell Hospice facility in Bradenton. Alice was a resident of Manatee County since 1975 and was a respected licensed practical nurse who worked for Manatee Memorial Hospital and various medical doctors. As a retiree, she volunteered for Manatee Co. Schools for health related events. Alice was dedicated to the profession of nursing. During Alice's retirement she and her husband John enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States. She embraced the importance of family traditions & brought family and friends together and enjoyed cooking large meals. Alice is survived by her loving husband John Lucas, (sons) Kenneth Mazuk of Collegeville, Pa and Brian Mazuk of Philadelphia, PA; daughters Bethanne Hill of Mary Esther, FL and Michelle Coggins of Hedgesville, WV; sister Carol Foley of Hummelstown, PA. She also has six grandchildren: Brian, Mimi, Joseph, Jaclyn, Phillip and Cassandra and three great-grandchildren: Jayden, Landon, and Jason. She was preceded in death by father Robert B. Rowland, mother Adele M. Krug, stepfather J. Kenneth Krug, and sister Patricia A. Oates. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , , or Tidewell Hospice facility in Bradenton, FL.
