went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2016. She was a resident at Freedom Village, Bradenton. Born in Evanston, Illinois on September 18, 1920. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, James Calhoun. A very loving mother to son Thomas Calhoun of Aiken, South Carolina, daughter Beverly Whitby, Bradenton, and son Samuel Calhoun, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She will be missed by her four grandchildren (Christopher Calhoun, Brian Calhoun, Daisy Lindas and John Calhoun and five great-grandchildren (Jessica, Jackson, Ben,,Lauren and Elyse Calhoun). Always striving to help others, she was President of Infant Welfare, Den Mother to girl scouts helper to the blind associations golf tournament and volunteer at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois and member of New Floridians. Also volunteer piano player in church and accompaniment to various students in contests. A graduate from National College of Education, Evanston, IL, she enjoyed substitute teaching as well as private piano students in her home. She loved to play bridge and golf! A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on April 3, 2016, 1:30 pm at Freedom Village in the Landings Auditorium, 6410 21st Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida. Contributions may be made to the , Sweet Adelines (Magic of Manatee), Pops Orchestra, or AMICCO (Anna Maria Island Chorus and Orchestra. Condolences on the Griffith-Cline web site.,
