age 93 of Anderson, passed away peacefully at Community Hospital Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Betty was born September 28, 1922 in Fairfield, Iowa to George Jergen and Ruby Merle (Kimmel) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max, on September 1, 2015. They had celebrated 73 years together prior to his passing. Earlier in Betty's life she worked at Montgomery Ward, Kings Crown Inn and was an Avon representative. Betty also went to work with her family Robert and Kate Massengill at Massengill's Sick Room Supplies which later was known as McVey's Sick Room Supplies. She worked for several years before moving to Palmetto, Florida with her husband Max in 1974 where they spent the next 35 years. Due to their declining health they returned to Anderson in February of 2010. Betty enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Betty also enjoyed cross stitching for her family and friends. She was a member of the Anderson Seventh-day Adventist Church. While in Florida, she was a member of the Islanders at Tropic Isles Park, which was a ladies singing group. She sewed all her daughters' cloths as they were growing up till they went to high school at Indiana Academy. Later after she was unable to use her hands, she enjoyed doing cross word and word find puzzles. She also loved to read. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, and brother George Jergen "Junior" Hansen II. She is survived by her children, Judy (Larry) Schalk, Rebecca (Lauren) Vogel, and Stephen (Rebecca) Massengill; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; Sister Lottie Rambo, and brother Leon Hansen; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie at 1:00 pm with visitation from 11:00 am till the time of the service.
