Connee Beckwith, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2016. Born on January 21, 1945 to Colonel Charles Beckwith and wife Rexene in LaJolla, CA. Born into a military family, despite frequent moves Connee thrived in each and every place she lived. First attending grade school in Germany then graduating from High School in Lawton Oklahoma. Connee went on to attend college in Lawton earning a degree in Education. After careers in education and as a business owner, Connee was a dedicated volunteer. She spent countless hours serving the community as a hospital Volunteer at Blake Memorial. Most recently, she's spent the last 16 years volunteering with Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, FL. She loved giving tours and talking about the animals being helped and raised at the aquarium. Her years of service at Mote Marie totaled over 4,000 hours and is a nominee for the President's Lifetime Achievement Award. She was an avid fan of NASCAR and Miami Hurricanes Football, spending her weekends watching both. She loved spending time with her mother shopping and doing errands. She was an accomplished competitive puzzler and enjoyed daily walks. She also served on the Community Association for her neighborhood. She enjoyed listening to the vocal stylings of the gospel artist Guy Penrod and loved to read the bible. Connee leaves behind two children; Robert McLaughlin and Kimberly McLaughlin. Three grandchildren Brian McLaughlin, Emily McLaughlin and Wyatt Harvey; her mother Rexene Beckwith, two brothers Steve Beckwith and Mike Beckwith and one sister Sandee Sloan. Private Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mote Marine Aquarium at link below Check the "Tribute Gift" box, then enter Connee's name.
