Dede Davies, 61, of Myakka City, passed away April 30, 2007, at her home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 5-8p.m., at the Manasota Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1221 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 4th at 10a.m., also at the Funeral Home.
Dede Retired from Tropicana after 24 years of service, ending her career as the company courier. She was loved by all her friends at Tropicana and the many vendors she worked with on a daily basis.
Dede was a longtime member of Tropicana's Employee Community Help Organization(E.C.H.O.) and was instrumental in the coordination with the logistics portion of all community events. Her above and beyond support for the programs not only helped the events be more successful, but enabled employee participation and involvement in those events.
Dede's enthusiasm and commitment to the E.C.H.O. program made her a natural to serve as president for several terms and will be remembered as a key contributor helping that organization go to the next level of community support and involvement. Dede was also a finalist for the prestigious Anthony T. Rossi Community Service Award for several years and when she won, Dede was presented the award by the company founder, Anthony T. Rossi himself. This award recongnizes one employee within the entire Tropicana Organization who has been the most Outstanding Volunteer that year.
Dede was also a member of the Manatee County Cloggers for over 20 years. Dede is survived by her loving husband, Ron, of Myakka City; daughter, Tammy and her husband Dan, of Brandon, Fla.; two special granddaughters, Megan and Michelle; her mother, Ruth Rice, of Edgewater, Fla.; sisters, Shoureen Bemer, of Alden, N.Y., Dawen Clark, of Filmore N.Y., Collieen Northrup, of St.Louis, Mo., Denise McGuire, of Edgewater, Fla., and Christy Budd, of Ft. Collins, Co.; a brother, George Griffin, of Cheetagawa, N.Y.
Donations in Dede's memory can be made to Tidewell Hospice and Pallitive Care.
Dede was so loved and will be missed by her loving family and a host of special friends.
