79 of Palmetto Florida passed away April 4, 2016. Widowed in 1981, husband, Charles Edwards and Dorothy are back together again. Born in Clawson, Michigan (Oakland County) she relocated to sunny Florida in 1968. A successful insurance agent in Michigan with Chamberlain and Barger. She had continued success in insurance here in our area as well working at C.H. Wooton and Moore and Moore at the age of 72. A strong and independent women Dorthoy was selfless and gave everything to everyone. Volunteering was a big part of her life. She was a very active member of her church, First Baptist Church of Palmetto. An animal lover she was actively involved with Safe Haven Animal Rescue and would also foster dogs as well. Giving selflessly of her time, Dorothy volunteered for 7 years as a girl Scout Leader, she taught 3rd grade Sunday school and donated much of her time to the library as well. In the 1990s she set up the first computer system at the library in Palmetto. She enjoyed crafts, making homemade cards was a favorite. Spending time with her grand children filled her heart with much joy. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Glenda Parks-Campbell, of Palmetto, FL her sister Donna May Makelim, of Michigan and brother, James Andrew Jobe and wife Sharon of Arizona, and her two grandchildren Anastacia Parks, Benjamin Parks, great-grandchild Riley Parks and one the way, Aria Parks. Dorothy's proceeded in death by her parents, Garnnet Mancour, mother and father, Amos Andrew Jobe, her brother, William C Jobe (2014) and her husband Charles Edwards (1981). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Palmetto on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10:00 am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home, Palmetto, FL.
