Bradenton Dorothy Cannady, 97, Bradenton, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM at the River Isles Clubhouse, Bradenton on Saturday 11/12/16. Dot was born on November 1, 1919 in Jersey City, NJ as the daughter of the late Edith and Edward Newkirk. She was a nursing graduate of Christ Hospital in Jersey City. She has been a resident of Bradenton for the past 43 years. Dot will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husbands Nathan Daniel Cannady and William Barton Overton, her sister Ruth Paap, niece Edith Dugan, and her son Daniel Edward Cannady. Her son, Bill Cannady, and her daughter, Peg Connell, survive her, as well as six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and considered it a circle of unending love! She belonged to Christ and by His Spirit was assured of her eternal life and, therefore, was willing to begin her new life whenever Christ called her home. All who knew her will sorely miss Dot's generous heart and sacrificial love for others!
