Passed away on August 11, 2016 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he worked for Union Pump, Clark Equipment Com-pany and the GTW Railroad of Battle Creek, Michigan. For over 20 years, he worked as an independent truck owner. Doug lived with his wife Barbara in Bellevue, Michigan for over 46 years. Over that time he had a lawn and garden business and served as a Boy Scout master and tball coach. Among his hobbies included woodworking, metalworking, refinishing furniture, gardening, and fishing. Some of his favorite places to fish included Thornapple Lake, Higgins Lake, Nottawa Lake, Graham Lake and the Battle Creek River in Bellevue. He was also a life-long fan of the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 46 years and his two sons Jack M.(Theresa) of Utica, New York; Eric D. (Jesscia) of Magnolia, Texas; and nine grandchildren Olivia, Lillian, Allison, Eric (Dougie), Madison, Jordan. Tyler, Nicholas, and Jacqueline. He is also survived by his mother Beverly Green and stepfather Robert Green of Northport, Florida and his sister Marsha (Jerry) Moore of Fayetteville, NC and Victor (Kay) Green of East Leroy, MI. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Bellevue Fire Department of Bellevue, MI or the Moffitt Cancer Center of Tampa, Florida. Memorial Services will be in Sarasota Military Cemetery on October 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
