77, of Parrish, Florida; formerly of Vinton, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2016. Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Bradenton, Florida had been Faye's home for the last 7 years. Faye lived in Virginia for most of her life. She and John moved to Florida in 1998. She was born to the late Guthrie (Gus) W. and Lois Naff Nicks October 5, 1938 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Faye is survived by her loving husband, John B. Thacker; daughter, Teresa DeLong Pregnall (Herb); granddaughter, Christine Nicole Mosier (Bryan); sister, Nancy Nicks Bucklin (Jim); Nephew, Brian Clark Bucklin; stepson, E. Dean Thacker (Robyn); step-granddaughters, Kaley Sweeney (Zac); Cassy Childress (Jason); step-great grandchildren, Peyton, Jackson, Lennon, special friend, Judy Caudill. A special thanks to all those healthcare professionals at Brookdale Assisted Living for the special care provided to Faye. Faye was a 1957 graduate of William Byrd High School and had many wonderful gifts. She was very musical, loved to sing, academic and compassionate to name a few. She was the pianist of the WBHS Mixed Choir and a music lover all her life. Drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway and days spent at the beach were two of Faye's favorite things. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5 from 6-8 pm at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, April 6 at 2pm. Interment will follow service at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Baptist Community Center, 101 17th St SE, Roanoke, Va. 24013.
