Jackie Peebles, 80, Bradenton, died on October 13, 2016. He was born in Soperton, GA in 1935 and moved to Bradenton in 1937. He is a 1955 graduate of Manatee High School where he played football winning a State Conference under his mentor, Wheeler Leeth. He married his high school sweetheart. Together they proudly supported the MHS Boosters and Hurricanes football. He proudly served 2 years in the United States Army in the Honor Guard at Fort Knox, KY. As owner of Peebles Electric, Inc. he brought excellence to the residential, commercial and industrial electrical trade. He offered his expertise by serving on the State Contractors Licensing Board, the City of Bradenton Appeals Board and the Sarasota County Licensing and Examining Board. He was an avid outdoorsman; upon retirement at age 50, he could be found fishing and hunting with his brothers and sons regularly. He kept his hand in the construction industry from time to time building residential homes. A devoted Catholic, he served on the committees for construction and renovation to Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Catholic churches. He is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Predeceased by his parents Quillman and Estelle (Soles) Peebles, his brothers Billy, Johnnie and Larry Peebles. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia of Bradenton, his daughter Jacqueline (Steven) Watkins of Bradenton, his son Douglas (Teresa) Peebles of Bradenton, and his son Stephen (Tracey Vita) Peebles of Bradenton, his cherished grandsons Jack and Garrett, his sister Linda (Michael) Deutsch, his brother Jerry (Diane) Peebles, sisters-in-law, Alean, Betty and Voncille Peebles, and many loved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, October 17, 2016 from 5:30-7pm at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 11am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 2850 75th St. W., Bradenton. Burial will take place at Fogartyville Cemetery immediately following. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Jackie and Patricia Peebles Family Scholarship Fund at Manatee High School to benefit a needy student.
