83, was born to Frederick Ray and Edna Lucille (Barnhart) Rice and lived her entire life in Springfield, later wintering in Florida. June and her husband, James Edward Myers were married 65 years. After raising her children, Ronald Jay and Stephen Gregory Myers, both of Springfield, June was employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where she later retired with more than 20 years of service. While there, she was active in the Suggestion Awards Program. She had so many suggestions approved with monetary awards that the Base Commanding General honored her by personally presenting the last several. June became known by the many clothes and accessories she designed, fabricated and which were featured on the cover of several Air Force Magazines. As a member of a Western Square Dance Club, her costume designs were unique. While she had many talents, she won a number of first place blue ribbons at fairs for her oil and watercolor paintings. She loved colors and flowers. For a time, she made floral arrangements for the Community Hospital gift shop. June worked part-time for The Ohio State University football and basketball games, the Crew Professional Soccer team, the OSU Farm Science Review and the Schottenstein Arena. She was a Charter Member of the mission church, Christ Lutheran, she served on the building, interior decorating and pastor search committees. June was also a member of the First Christian Church. Through the years, June was a member of a number of other organizations. June will be warmly remembered for quietly doing many, many things to lift the spirit of others.
