Mary Jean Van Serke, 82, of Palmetto, Fl., passed away on March 23, 2016. She was born in Oneco, Florida, on November 26, 1933, and was a lifelong Manatee County resident. She was a receptionist for Dr. Knowles & Dr. Quimby, Palmetto Bank & Trust, and finally Bank of America. Widowed in 2003, she and her husband had one son, Michael. Known for her sweet, outgoing personality, Mary Jean will be missed by many. Survivors include her son, Michael (Kelly); sister Delores Cox; grandchildren, Bradley & Kaylee; and dear companion, Scoop Davis. Visitation will be held at 10am, Monday, March 28th followed by the service at 11am, at First Baptist Church of Bradenton Historical Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice.
