Phyllis J. Masterson (87) of Ellenton, FL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, one week shy of her 88th birthday. She was the daughter of George Hilton and Ruth (Corwin) Royer of Bellefontaine, OH. She graduated from Bellefontaine High in 1946 and, in 1953, married William Robert "Bill" Masterson, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Phyllis and her family moved from Ohio to Florida in 1971. In 1978, they were a founding family of Bible Baptist Church of Bradenton, FL, where Phyllis was the original pianist and organist, retiring from playing in January 2016. She worked in banking for 18 years and retired from Goldome (formerly Palmetto Federal Savings & Loan). She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Janet (Royer) Skony of Ft. Lauderdale, and her husband of 59 years. Survivors include her 3 children, Wayne Masterson and wife Debbie (Rush) of Bradenton, FL, Susan (Masterson) Morrison Narring and husband Rev. Dana Narring of Sarasota, FL, and Todd Masterson and wife Judy (Marlow) of Ellenton, FL, along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Bible Baptist Church, 2113 Morgan Johnson Road, Bradenton, FL 34208, with visitation at 6:00pm and service at 7:00pm. Arrangements are being handled by Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, FL (941-722-6602). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church Property Loan.
