83, of Palmetto, FL, passed away June 28, 2016. He was born and raised in South Philadelphia, an Irish Catholic, on February 22, 1933, to the late; Thomas B. and Margaret McCann Plunkett. He served our country in the US ARMY during the Korean conflict. He retired as a Supervisor from GE after 40+ years of dedicated employment. Thomas enjoyed taking cruises, dancing, painting and golfing with his golf buddies. He was a former member of the Elks, Moose and the Sun Coast Mummers, a string band, where he was the Captain of the Dancers, that visited and entertained the residents of assisted living facilities. He met his wife of 23 years, Peggy Chambers on a blind date and despite both of their wishes to not become emotionally attached, they fell in love and made a wonderful life together. They moved from South New Jersey in 1996. Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Chambers) Plunkett, son; Thomas (Maureen) Plunkett, daughter, Debbie (Robert) Gillock, grandchildren; Tom and Jenn, John, Maryanne, Stephanie and Mario, Erika, great grandchildren; Grant, Maison, Destiny and Leylanie. and his dog Sami. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stephanie Rengepis. A gathering to Celebrate Thomas' life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 10am-11am in the Glass Chapel of Skyway Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Father James Donnelly officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Skyway Memorial Funeral Home.
