Farmer E. "Gene" Harper, 77, of Bradenton, FL left with the angels on March 31, 2014 in Bradenton. Gene was born May 16, 1936 in Frame, West Virginia. Preceded in death by parents, Farmer Lee and Minnie Bell Harper and by his sister, Marie Means. He was a member of Samoset 1st Baptist Church, American Legion Post 312 and Palmetto Moose Lodge 2117. Gene loved the outdoors and the Tampa Bay Rays and was an avid motorcycle rider. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia; children: Melody (Jarmo) Kormu and Tim (Diedra) Harper, Bradenton, FL; Dwayne (Nancy) Harper, Baxley, GA; Andrea (Anthony) Costner, Gastonia, NC; Brothers: Gordon Harper, Poca WV, Cecil Harper, Sarasota, FL; Sisters: Bertha Kelly, Plant City, FL, Mary Jones, Cleveland, OH; 8 grand-children and 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL with services to follow. Committal service will follow at Skyway Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samoset 1st Baptist Church Christmas Shoe-box Fund.
