Fleta (Beisner) Boyd, formerly of Holmes Beach and Bradenton, died in Rhode Island on January 18, 2013, after a long illness. She was born on October 16, 1928, in Willisville, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in music education and she taught piano for many years on Anna Maria Island. Later she received her masters degree at the University of South Florida. She was a reading specialist in Manatee and Pinellas counties for many years prior to retiring. She was the sole surviving charter member of the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bradenton, founded in 1958, along with her deceased husband, Herbert F. Boyd. They were residents of the Presbyterian Manor in the final years of Herb's life. Fleta was also a longstanding member of the Manatee County League of Women's Voters and spent many years registering voters and assist-ing at the polls during elections. Fleta is survived by her two sons, Jeffry Boyd and his wife, Pamela, of Santa Rosa, CA, Christopher Boyd and his wife, Barbara, of Cocoa, FL, and a daughter, Kathleen Boyd and her husband, Daniel Even, of Warren, RI. Fleta is also survived by three grandchildren: Jennifer Snider and her husband, Timothy, of Fresno, CA, Allyson Even of Warren, RI, and Dennis Boyd of Cocoa, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship are appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at 4 pm at the Fellowship (address: 322 15th Street West Bradenton, FL 34205).
