Harry E. Lingaton, 75, of 1241 South Kendall Ave., passed away Thursday (Jan. 3, 2013) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born June 13, 1937, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Theodore J. and Rhoda M. Clark Lingaton Sr. On June 11, 1960, in Kane, he married Joyce E. Stiles Lingaton, who survives.
Mr. Lingaton attended Bradford Area schools. On Feb. 2, 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Feb. 1, 1963.
He had worked at W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., Airco Speer, Dresser-Clark in Olean, N.Y., and Custer City Oil Co., where he retired. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Zippo Manufacturing Co.
Mr. Lingaton was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was awarded his high school diploma on June 7, 2012, the thirteenth veteran to be honored with a diploma through the Operation Recognition Act.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by one daughter, Stacy (Jason) Dohrman of Texas; one son, Michael (Sherry) Lingaton of Bradford; two sisters, Mae Cunningham of Erie and Helen Morrison of Bradford; one half-brother, John Lingaton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; and one sister.
Family will be receiving friends in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Max Miller, pastor of the Bradford Area Parish, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Lung Association; American Cancer Society; or a charity of the donor's choice.
