SMETHPORT - Rena B. Goodwill-Baney, 94, of Smethport, died Friday evening (Sept. 13, 2013) in Sena-Kean Manor, Smethport, after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Galeton, a daughter of William H. and Flora Knickerbocker Mattison. She was married to Stewart Goodwill, who died in 1984, and then was married to Ronald Baney, who died in 2009.
Rena was a 1936 graduate of Smethport High School and was a lifelong resident of Smethport.
She was employed as a secretary for local lawyers. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a love for her horses. She also enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Truman) Ford of Smethport; one son, Dean (Lynne) Goodwill of Smethport; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Sietler of Hamburg, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stewart Goodwill; husband, Ronald Baney; a son, William Goodwill; two grandsons, Stuart Goodwill and Jason Goodwill; two great-grandsons, William Mendevil and J.C. Ford; two sisters, Norma Henry and Eva Kleisath; and two brothers, Leo Mattison and Alvie Mattison.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral and committal services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Gregg, pastor of the Regular Baptist Church of Smethport, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., Smethport.
